CANstruction is an annual exhibit and design competition that connects talented architects, engineers, contractors, and students to imagine and create colossal structures built completely out of canned food items. The structures will be on display for two weeks starting April 27 at Crossgates Mall, raising awareness of food insecurity in our region while highlighting the local talent of design firms. At the close of the exhibit, every can is donated to The Food Pantries for the Capital District to help feed families in the Capital Region.

In 2025,  CANstruction brought in 71,826 pounds of food and a donation to The Food Pantries for the Capital District of $50,000! This brought the Capital Region CANstruction’s impact to over one million pounds of food  and nearly $475,000 since it’s inception.

We are EXTREMELY CLOSE to one very big milestone this season, and we believe with dedication, teamwork, and determination that we can achieve this goal.

1. We are just about $25,000 away from raising a total all-year combined donation to The Food Pantries of $500,000. We are confident that we can reach this goal with your help.
